Marilyn Szaraz, 88, of Manalapan, passed away April 17, 2022, at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge.

Born Saturday, Sept. 23, 1933, in Bronx, New York, Marilyn was the daughter of the late William and Cecila Altman.

Marilyn was raised in the Bronx. She would meet and marry the love of her life Louis Szaraz there. After marrying, the couple lived in the Bronx before moving to Richmond, Virginia. Eventually the couple would live in Yonkers and start their family there. After a short time they settled in Old Bridge. 

Marilyn was a homemaker and dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed traveling with Louis to many different destinations, including the Bahamas, Las Vegas, and their many trips to Atlantic City. Marilyn enjoyed playing mahjong and bingo. She also enjoyed watching classic movies and going to live shows. She will be missed by all those who loved her.

Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Louis, who passed away in 1995, by her sister Beverly Deifik, and by her nephews, Mark and Alan Deifik.

Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Barbara Szaraz, Janet Cassidy and her husband Donald, and Steven Szaraz and his wife Carol; by her cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Mike, Anthony and Caitlyn, Robert, Jennifer and James, Emily and Rob, Connor and Sarah, and Sterling; by her cherished great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alyssa, Brenna, Cayson, Dara, Layla, Violet and Rain; and by her loving nephew Barry and niece Jillian. 

A funeral service took place April 19 at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service in Old Bridge. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
