Marjorie M. Leeds, 77, passed away Oct. 17. She was born in Long Branch to the late Alan and Dorothy (Bonns) Leeds.

Marjorie worked as an art teacher for all 12 schools in the Middletown Township School District, retiring after 42 years. She wrote and illustrated the fire and safety rules for the district. Marjorie drew the illustrations for the children’s book “Adventures of Giggles & Owen” written by Shirley Terrill Holdman. She was honored to help troubled children in reform schools by teaching them art.

She is survived by her beloved sister Patricia and her husband George Carney; her loving nieces, Christine Csaky and her husband Mihaly and their daughter Kaitlin and Dr. Erin Carney Gellella and her husband Erik and their children, Emily and Kyle; and her cherished cousins, Douglas Rudd and his wife Kathryn and their children, Maggie, Kellie and Brian and his wife Alaina and their sons, Brent and Connor.

A visitation was held Oct. 21 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, with a service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment followed at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt, New York.
