Mary Clare Brahney

1646

Mary Clare Brahney, 69, died Aug. 27, 2021, in Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Mary grew up in Rumson where she attended Holy Cross School and later Rumson-Fair Haven High School Class of 1970. She was a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and she worked in the legal profession most of her life.

She lived in various places and especially had fond memories of living in Brooklyn where she worked for Catholic Charities after graduating from Oberlin College, Ohio in 1974. However, she always came back to the Jersey Shore – her real home.

She loved her birds and memories of her dog Buck. She enjoyed swimming and she was a voracious reader. She was nice, funny, generous, very intelligent and very hard-working. She was an incredible person. We loved her very much. Even though she is gone, she will always be alive in our hearts and minds.

Mary was predeceased by her father Charles Brahney, and her mother Clare Brahney (née McLaughlin). She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Brahney, Jane Wallace and Kathleen Dodge; nephews Cody, Luke, Steven and Brandon; nieces, Chelsea and Kelly; and their children, Isabel, Charlie and Noaa.
