Mary M. DeWaters, 53, of Middletown, passed away April 8, 2021, surrounded by her family at her home after a valiant battle with cancer. Mary was born July 8, 1967 in Manhattan. She was raised in New York City and lived on Staten Island. After marrying, she moved to Middletown to raise a family.

Mary was a claims adjustor at Epic Insurance Brokers in Jersey City for the past several years. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Church in Middletown. Mary loved animals. She always had dogs and cats as pets in her home. She also had a passion for shopping. But most of all, she loved her family and spending time with her boys. It would not be surprising to see Mary dressed in goalie gear defending hockey shots from her boys!

Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, Lawrence DeWaters, and their two sons, Eric and Daniel. Mary also leaves behind her mother and stepfather, Eileen and Michael Lough of Pennsylvania.

Friends and relatives paid their respects April 11 and 12 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 12 at Saint Catherine RC Church, Middletown. A private cremation followed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monmouth County SPCA at monmouthcountyspca.org.
