On June 9 Michael E. Mascone, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at age 51.

Michael was born to John V. and Mary T. (Ryan) Mascone in Tarrytown, New York. He graduated high school from Christian Brother Academy in 1986 and earned a Bachelor of Arts from St. Joseph’s University in 1990.

Michael was national execution manager for Nestle Water, N.A. having worked for Nestle for nearly 20 years. On Sept 20, 1997, he married Victoria (Tory) Donnelly, with whom he has 2 daughters, Elizabeth (Bess) and Caroline.

Michael was a selfless man who possessed an unwavering sense of optimism that defined all aspects of his life. A four-year letterman for St. Joseph’s University’s varsity men’s soccer team, Mike was a leading figure in youth soccer for Middletown and Central New Jersey. He had a deep love and passion for youth soccer and for helping kids develop their skills on the field as players and off the field to become better people. He was a coach and executive board member for the Middletown soccer club; most importantly he was Bess’ and Caroline’s biggest supporter on the sidelines. A tireless advocate for children, Michael was also a former member of the Middletown Board of Education.  

Michael was known by so many as the embodiment of what every father and husband should be. He loved his wife, children and family boundlessly. He was a devoted and loving son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Michael was a giving and generous friend who always had time to lend a hand or a kind word. He had a compassionate spirit and an infectious sense of humor. No matter the circumstances, Mike always found the good in every situation. He will be deeply missed. 

Michael was preceded in death by his father John.

He is survived by his wife Tory; their two daughters, Elizabeth (Bess) and Caroline; his mother Mary’ his sister Carol O’Hara and brother-in-law Tim O’Hara; his brother Jack; and 15 nieces and nephews.   

A gathering of family and friends and a celebration of Mike’s life was held June 12 at The Rumrunner in Sea Bright. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Middletown Soccer Club (Girls), P.O. Box 103, Middletown, NJ 07748.

The Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
