MIDDLETOWN – Mater Dei Prep High School (MDP) will host its annual open house for seventh- and eighth-graders from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5.
Planned activities include student-led school tours and an information session with Principal Craig Palmer and the Rev. Jeff Kegley, director of St. Mary’s Campus Schools. Faculty, staff and coaches also will be on hand to answer any questions
A Q&A with current parents and music and dance performances by members of MDP’s award-winning Seraph Players will round out the event.
MDP’s unique rolling admissions program, now in its second year, means interested students can begin the application process at the open house. Based on college admissions programs, MDP’s model allows students to receive notification of acceptance months earlier than other private high schools in the county. After their acceptance, students are required to take a placement test, rather than admissions test, currently offered Oct. 18 and Nov. 1. Additional dates will be added in winter.
MDP is a Catholic college preparatory school located on a 32-acre campus. It draws students from more than 30 parochial, private and public schools in Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties. Students graduate from MDP with an average of 13 college credits thanks to dual-enrollment programs with Seton Hall University and Brookdale Community College.
