Matthew O’Connor Byron, 39, of Tinton Falls, passed away peacefully June 23, 2021, at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Red Bank to the late Michael and Patrice (O’Connor) Byron. He attended St. Leo the Great School in Lincroft, received his bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey and his law degree from Georgetown Law. He was a founding member of Sigma Pi Fraternity at The College of New Jersey and member of the New York Bar.
Matthew worked as a senior manager at Ernst & Young in their international tax department for 10 years. He was an avid sports fan, routing for the New York Giants, Rangers and Yankees. Matthew was a devoted Bruce Springsteen fan, attending many concerts over the years. Matthew will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor and intense loyalty.
Surviving is his loving wife Jaime Schaefer Byron and his two cherished children, Emma and Patrick; his aunt Erin Sabol; his cousin Mike Sabol and his wife Michele and their children, Ashley, Alec, Michael and Austin; and his cousin Meg Brunette.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. July 8 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, with a service beginning at 7 p.m.
