Maura Hickey McCarthy, 61, of Red Bank, formerly of Fair Haven, passed away June 15, 2026.
Maura was born July 12, 1964, in New Rochelle, New York, to George and Pat Hickey. She grew up in Spring Lake and Sea Girt with her four siblings, Tara, Kate, Jim and Brannigan.
In 1990, Maura married Brendan McCarthy. They had two daughters, Shannon and Deirdre.
A graduate of the College of New Rochelle, Maura’s favorite things in the world were family and being outdoors; if those two things could be combined, that made her day.
Maura was a parishioner of the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, a member of the Shrewsbury River Yacht Club and a member of Ship Ahoy Beach Club.
Maura loved to talk more than anyone, but it was always sincere and from her heart. She wanted to know everything about you, especially if it involved children. The most important thing to her was always family, and maybe sharing a prosecco with a “splash of cran.”
Maura’s greatest accomplishment in life was her two daughters; her love for them surpassed all. She could be tough, but the love always shined through.
Maura was predeceased by her father, George Hickey.
She is survived by her mother, Pat Hickey; her beloved husband, Brendan; her cherished daughters, Shannon and her husband, Nick, and Deirdre; her precious grandson, Declan; her siblings, Tara and her husband, Bobby, Kate and her husband, Chris, Jim and his wife, Liz, and Brannigan; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral Mass was held June 20 at Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Maura’s memory to type 1 diabetes research at Breakthrough T1D (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation) at breakthrought1d.org.
The family would like to thank everyone who reached out to them following Maura’s death in such amazing numbers. Their gratitude cannot be expressed enough.
