Maureen M. Stack

Maureen M. Stack, 86, of Little Silver and Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully Dec. 11, 2023, with her family by her side.

Maureen was born into a large extended Irish family and grew up among many beloved cousins and cherished friends in Hoboken. She was a graduate of St. Dominic Academy in Jersey City and Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York.  Although she enjoyed her work in both education and real estate, she took the most pride in being a mother to her five children and grandmother to her many grandchildren. She will be remembered for her incredible sense of humor, her love of dancing and her zest for life.

Maureen was a close friend and confidant to all who knew her and was affectionately known by many as “Aunt Bloody Mary!” She was also a founding member of Little Silver’s exclusive Four O’Clock Club, where cocktails were served and laughs were plentiful.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Thomas J. and Bridget F. McAleer; her husband William J. Stack II; her son Timothy Stack; and her granddaughter Sloane Pearson.

She is survived by her children, Maurice J. Stack II and his wife Meredith Koloski; Thomas J. Stack and his fiancé Laurie Jo Kinsella; Teresa S. Pearson and her husband Dana; and Shelagh S. Gilbert and her husband Scott; along with her grandchildren, Devyn, Camryn and Liam Stack, Blair, Caleigh and Reese Gilbert, Bridget Pearson, and her bonus grandson Gavin Wehr.

As the life of every party, it comes as no surprise that it was Maureen’s wish that in lieu of a wake, her children should host a final happy hour to celebrate her amazing, fun and fabulous earthly adventure. This will begin promptly at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Monmouth Beach Bath & Tennis Club.

If you would like to make a donation in Maureen’s name, she was especially fond of the important work done by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Memphis, Tennessee, as childhood leukemia impacted her family directly.
