Dorothy M. McDonald, 80, a longtime resident of Middletown, passed away Jan. 15. Dorothy was born July 9, 1939 in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Winifred and John  Beath. She was raised in Boston where she met her husband, Allan. After marrying, they settled in the New Monmouth section of Middletown, where they raised their family.

Dorothy was a sales clerk at the Middletown Sears for 20 years. When she was not working, Dorothy enjoyed dancing, spending time with her beloved grandchildren, travelling (especially trips to Florida) and the holidays. She hosted a big Christmas party every year for her family and friends. Dorothy will best be remembered for her infectious laugh.

Dorothy was predeceased by her devoted husband of 48 years, Allan P. McDonald Jr., in 2009. She is survived by their four sons and daughters-in-law: John McDonald, Robert and Kim McDonald, Joseph and Donna McDonald and Michael and Kimberly McDonald. She also leaves behind seven granddaughters: Patty, Megan, Molly, Marleigh, Courtney (and her mother Tracy), Melissa and Jennifer (and their mother Soraya); along with three great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers, John and Donald Beath.

Friends and relatives may paid their respects Jan. 22 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. A funeral service concluded the evening. The burial and committal were private at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle N.J. Veterans Cemetery.
