Margaret McKenna, 95, passed away Sunday, April 10, peacefully at home. Raised in New York City, proudly graduating top of her class from Julia Richman High School, Margaret married her husband Richard in 1942. After his service in the military, they eventually settled in New Hyde Park, New York, where they raised their two sons.

Years later, Margaret relocated to Shadow Lake Village in Middletown where she thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the Jersey Shore. In 2006, she was welcomed at Brandywine Assisted Living in Shrewsbury and truly appreciated the kindness and care of the exceptional staff.

Margaret’s life was long and full, including a career as an accountant at Sperry Rand Corporation, Lake Success, New York, many celebrations with her extended family of many nieces and nephews, a strong love of fitness through exercise and dance and her commitment to her faith as a communicate of St. James R.C. Church.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Richard in 1987; two sisters and three brothers; and her parents, John and Anna (Harchar) Merrick.

She is survived by two sons, Richard McKenna and his wife Patricia of Red Bank and their children, Maggie and Jenny and Robert McKenna and his wife Juliette of Port Jefferson, New York and their children Danielle, Madison and Aidan; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Wading River, New York, on Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Calverton National Cemetery.
