Megan McCaffrey, age 58, passed away June 6, 2025.
Born Aug. 19, 1966, Megan was the devoted spouse of Michael Taylor and a kind and generous member of both the Taylor and McCaffrey families, as well as her community. She was an active member of St. James Church in Red Bank.
Megan was known by friends and family, old and new, to be gifted in academics and athletics. She was an excellent student at The Ranney School in Tinton Falls for the entirety of her education. Megan was an avid swimmer, soccer and tennis player throughout her childhood and teen years. After high school, she attended Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she studied from 1984-1988.
In the 1990s, after her time at Tufts, Megan was an integral part of supporting her community in Somerville, Massachusetts, by leading the Welcome Project, whose aim was to help migrant families in public housing thrive in a culturally integrated community. Megan worked in her adult life for various construction companies as a project manager. Most notably, she was an integral part of the refurbishing of the Hoboken Train Station in the early 2000s.
All who knew her would agree that throughout her life, Megan loved to make sure her friends, family and community were well-fed, happy and, most of all, supported. During the 2000s, she gave freely of her time to Lunch Break, a food pantry and outreach program in Red Bank, donating food and volunteering her time for those less fortunate than herself.
She will be sorely missed but remembered well by all who knew her.
Megan was predeceased by her brother Brendan and her nephew Zion.
Megan is survived by her husband Michael Taylor; his two children, Michael and Miranda and their spouses, Grace and Larry; Miranda’s daughter Maggie; extended family, Erin and Charlotte; Megan’s parents, Betty and Charles McCaffrey; her sister Anastasia McCaffrey and her children Christopher, Ashley and James; along with a host of cousins, aunts and uncles.
A celebration of her life was held June 24, 2025, at the John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank.
