The world lost a beloved woman, Melissa (Missy) Workman, on her 81st birthday, Dec. 29, 2022. Missy battled congestive heart failure and COPD for several years, but it never stopped her from giving out the world’s best hugs. The day before she left us, she shared time and love with her children and grandchildren. Missy passed away peacefully surrounded by her three children.

While Missy was born Dec. 29, 1941, in Shrewsbury, she spent many years in Los Angeles, California, and Independence, Missouri, lived in Ramona, California, for 36 years, and spent her final chapter in Escondido, California.

Missy spent most of her years working at the VA Medical Center in San Diego. Since 2018, she lived at Felicita Vida Senior Home where she fostered many close friendships. She was a kind soul, always interested in people’s stories and always enjoyed the exchange of good feelings.

Missy is survived by her children, Carole Christianson, George (Chris) Christianson, and Katherine Kimball Boyce; and grandchildren, Lauren Boyce, Alyssa Christianson, Imogen Christianson, and Sophia Christianson. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Workman; ex-husband George Christianson; both of her parents, Charles and Polly Marsh; her nephew Christopher James Boyce; and her beloved brother Tad Marsh.

Missy had friends and family from all over and, therefore, will be remembered at the following online memorial sites so that all friends can post their final farewells to this beautiful soul: Kudoboard Tribute site: kudoboard.com/boards/jLD1iAWz; Facebook Memorial site: facebook.com/missyworkman1.

Your Hug Meant the World
Nobody else held me so tight
Or made me feel so right
No one’s eyes shined so bright with love
As my mom, who is now high above.

The immediate family will have a private burial of Missy’s ashes.
