Angelo F. Merlino, 74, of Shrewsbury passed away Aug. 13 with his family by his side. He was born in Brooklyn to the late Joseph and Stella Merlino.

Angelo was the owner of the Bagel Station here in Red Bank and also in Spring Lake Heights. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed going to Monmouth Park Race Track, but most of all he was a man who relished his time with his family. Angelo was a sweet, gentle soul and will be missed by many.

He is predeceased by his sister Rosalie and sister-in-law Elena Merlino. Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Jacquelin (neé Gorra), his loving sons, Joseph and David, his dear brother Edward and his nephew AJ Merlino.

A life celebration was held Aug. 16 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank with a Mass of Christian Burial Aug. 17 at St. James R.C. Church, Red Bank, and entombment following at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Woodbridge.
