Michael A. LaBell-Eschelbach, born July 8, 1967, died peacefully in his sleep July 17, 2025. Michael was the son of Mary Janone Compano. He graduated from Dover High School and moved to Monmouth County to reside with his husband, Paul Eschelbach.
Michael loved children and animals. He helped raise Elijah Sierra and Cam’Ron Smith. He worked for the Monmouth County SPCA in Eatontown, where he came into contact with a number of animals that he loved. He adopted several – dogs, cats, a parrot and a McCaw.
Michael was well known for his generosity, wisdom, common sense and kindness.
He is survived by his husband, Paul Eschelbach. They were together for over 33 years. He is also survived by his sister Marie Gagne, his brother Byron James LaBell, several nieces, a nephew and many grand-nieces and nephews.
“Mikey” loved gardening and tending to his many rosebushes. He enjoyed watching the multitude of birds he invited to his house with his several bird feeders. The family will always love and miss him greatly.
A celebration of life for Michael was held July 21 at Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, Long Branch.
