Michael L. Cronin

Michael (also known as Larry) L. Cronin, 78, of Middletown, passed away Oct. 27, 2022. He was born in Brooklyn and lived many years on Staten Island before moving to Middletown.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Bay of Pigs in 1964. After his service he went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from St. Peter’s College (now Saint Peter’s University) in Jersey City, while working at Citigroup Corporation. He worked his way up to vice president and retired after 38 years. He received a proclamation from the CEO of Citigroup with his staff for running the bank operation during the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

He enjoyed reading – especially U.S. history and navy books – and traveling the world.

Michael was predeceased by his father Lawrence Cronin and his mother Angelina Addesso.  Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Jean Morrison Cronin; four sons, Christopher Cronin, Matthew (Samantha) Cronin, Kevin Cronin (Heather Martin) and Michael (Andrea) Cronin; daughter Jennifer Gutierrez; grandchildren, Braeden, Jake, Olivia, Caroline, Madison, Cassandra, Nicholas (Alexis) and Thomas Cronin and Olivia Gutierrez; and sister Teresa (Robert) Edwards.

Visitation was held Nov. 2 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10 a.m. Nov. 3 at St. James RC Church on Broad Street in Red Bank.
