Midd. South Routs Manalapan: RFH, Shore, Midd. North, SJV Win

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP ­– It has been six years since Middletown South has won an A Division North football championship, but the unbeaten Eagles (6-0) moved one step closer to the title with an impressive 42-7 rout of defending champion Manalapan Friday.
Manalapan had beaten South five straight times, but it was all South, Friday with the Eagles jumping out to a 27-0 halftime lead and coasting the rest of the way.
Cole Rogers led the way by scoring three touchdowns on runs of 35, 2 and 49 yards while quarterback Matt Mosquera threw a 28yard touchdown pass to Sean Coffey and scored once himself on an 11-yard run. James McCarthy added the other touchdown on a 28-yard run.

MIDD. NORTH 21, HOWELL 7

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP – Quarterback Donald Glenn threw touchdown passes to Connor Welsh and Brendan Kube, and Welsh added a 2-yard scoring run as the Lions (4-2) trimmed Howell to remain one game behind South in the A Division race.

RFH 49, MANASQUAN 6

RUMSON – Rumson (4-1), fully recovered from its loss to St. John Vianney, did all of its scoring in the first three quarters as Bryan Hess and Matt Vecchiarelli set the pace with two touchdowns each.
Hess scored on runs of 75 and 11 yards while Vecchiarelli scored on a 2-yard run and caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mike O’Connor. Mike Ruane had a pair of interceptions, one of them for a touchdown.
O’Connor also threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Elijah McAlister while Mike Murdock had another touchdown with an intercepted pass.

SJV 56, RARITAN 26

HOLMDEL – St. John Vianney quarterback Anthony Brown, who will be playing for Boston College next season, had a career game with five touchdown passes and 297 yards overall while rushing for 108 yards in the unbeaten Lancers (6-0) rout of Raritan.
Three of Brown’s touchdown passes went to Mike Staper while Chris Chukwuneke three touchdowns on runs of 9, 26 and 21 yards for the Lancers.
