Miller, Mary Lane

1013

Mary Lane “Bay” Miller passed away Jan. 21. She was born Nov. 23, 1925 in Westfield, the daughter of Roy and Eleanor Mulford. One of seven children, she was predeceased by her brothers Roy Mulford, Guy Mulford and Randy Mulford and sisters Virginia (Mulford) Barrett and Eleanor Mulford.

Bay married Harland L. (Butch) Miller Jr. Nov. 28, 1944. They lived at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina while Butch was stationed there for the U.S. Marine Corps and eventually settled at the Jersey Shore in Fair Haven where they raised their four children.

Bay was a supportive mother and active leader in Brownies and Girl Scouts. She loved the beach and was a longtime member of Surfrider Beach Club. She was a devoted wife and mother and anyone who met her knew her greatest joy was her family. Butch and Bay were loyal New York Giants and Yankees fans for over 50 years and enjoyed tailgating with friends and family.  One of Bay’s biggest joys was to accompany Butch all around the world on his exotic big game fishing trips.

Butch predeceased Bay Feb. 15, 2006 and she moved to Orange County, California later that year, eventually settling in San Clemente, California in 2011.

Bay is survived by her four children: Patsy Pauels; Robin Hardt (Russell); Tracey Schulein (Walter); and Harland L. (Hal) Miller III (Angela). Bay is also survived by her grandchildren: Tracey Dillinger (Randy); Bia Blickenstaff; Amy Kasper (Kent); Courtney Froehkle (Douglas); Meagan Perlstein (John); Parker Hardt (Tenley); Walter Schulein Jr. (Nicole); Ryan Schulein (Joy); Harland L. Miller IV (Kaitlyn); and Ashley R.
