RUMSON – Monmouth Conservation Foundation (MCF), the leader in preserving Monmouth County open space, farmland, wetlands and natural resources, is having its annual fundraising dinner dance on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Rumson. It will be held at the home of Avery and Chris Brighton.
The theme of this year’s event is “Celebrating Nature’s Wide Side – (And Yours!).”
The evening’s event will be in honor of Valerie and Tom Gimbel, whose beautiful 44-acre farm in Middletown Township was preserved last year due to the efforts of MCF. In addition, MCF also will be honoring the Scudder Family whose breathtaking 91-acre property, also in Middletown Township, was preserved as open space, again thanks to the efforts of MCF.
“Fundraisers like this are very important because they help us obtain the financial resources we need in order to protect the area’s natural beauty,” said William Marraccini, president of the MCF board. “As one sage board member stated, ‘The more green you spend, the more green you save!’ And, I might add, those attending obtain a lot of enjoyment doing what we can to raise funding at an event like this where we are ‘Celebrating Nature’s Wild Side!’ ”
William Kastning, executive director of MCF added, “The foundation’s work is critical because open space is a vanishing commodity in Monmouth County. We strive to preserve as much open space and natural resources as possible on behalf of everyone and look to the community to help us in this effort.”
The event will be on Sept. 28. The menu, catered by Kessler’s, will be locally sourced and feature artisanal fare from the area’s farms and dairies. Silent and live auctions featuring unusual items and entertainment will add to the fun and raise much needed funds. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Those wishing to purchase tickets or to make a donation to MCF are encouraged to contact Chris Horrigan at 732-671-7000 or chorrigan@monmouthconservation.org. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.monmouthconservation.org.
