Jacqueline Pierson Nettles passed away Jan. 20 after an extensive battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Born in Southampton, New York, she lived most of her adult life in Rumson where, along with her husband George Fuhrman Nettles, they raised four children. Jacquie was predeceased by her husband and one daughter Patricia Damon Nettles.

Jacquie served on a number of nonprofit boards, including the Rumson Garden Club and Rumson Country Day School. For over 30 years she worked in local real estate and received numerous awards for her sales in real estate. 

Jacquie’s compassion, kindness and humor endeared her to many. She constantly gave of herself, putting many before her own needs. As a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter Christy Nettles Elwell and her husband David K. Elwell of Vero Beach, Florida and Newport, Rhode Islsnd; their sons, Scott P. Elwell and his two daughters Eliza and Christy, and David K. Elwell III, his wife Aliza and their daughter Hannah and son Briggs S. Elwell and his wife Sasha; her daughter Pamela Nettles Boyd and her husband William B. Boyd of Atlantic Highlands, owners of Boxwood Gardens Florist, and their daughters, Kendra P. Castellano and her husband Michael and their two sons, Leo and Michael, and Christy M. Boyd;  her son George Fuhrman (Jeff) Nettles Jr., his wife Diane of Egg Harbor Township and their son Douglas F. Nettles.

Donations can be made in memory of Jacqueline Pierson Nettles to St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church or the Monmouth County SPCA. Her service will be private.
