Barbara J. O’Brien, 84, of Middletown, died Sept. 20 at Brighton Gardens. She was born in Jersey City to the late Leo and Margaret (neé Flynn) Zalewski. Barbara was a talented seamstress, crocheter and knitter. She was the best mom and grandmom. Her family came first in all things and she was beloved by all who knew her.

Surviving are her husband, John O’Brien Jr.; her four daughters and their spouses, Kathleen and Robert Rubino, Barbara Miller, Margaret and Bernard Broad, and Jacqueline O’Brien; her two sons, John O’Brien III and Edward O’Brien; her sisters, Mary Dick and Leona Santacroce and her husband Vincent; her brother and sister-in-law John and Dianne Zalewski; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Jeneen Nacion and Taylor Miller; her great-grandchild Logan Marvel; her son-in-law Kevin Miller; and her brother-in-law George Dick.

A Memorial Service was held Sept. 21 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
