Oct. 19 is Thompson Park Day

LINCROFT – Thompson Park Day offers fun for the whole family.
A celebration of the season, the event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Thompson Park, Newman Springs Road.
Free activities will include canoeing on Marlu Lake, weather permitting, plus kids’ races and entertainment. Other free offerings will include the Meet the Mustangs, Dash for Cash, Zany Zombies and Discover Walnford.
Activities requiring a ticket – each ticket costs $3 – are grab n’ go ceramics, pumpkin painting, wagon rides, inflatable rides, archery, Dixie Turbo Tubs, Bungee Trampoline and Dixie Little Swinger. The Creative Arts Center will be offering Fired Up Ceramics for five tickets.
The Monmouth County Park System’s annual scarecrow contest will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entries are $10 in advance or five tickets the day of event. The Friends of the Parks will be holding their “Strut Your Mutt” doggie costume contest as well. Applications and details for both the scarecrow and “Strut Your Mutt” contests are available online at www.monmouthcountyparks.com.
The event also will feature pie-eating contests. The children’s pie-eating contest will be held at 1 p.m. while the adults’ pie-eating contest begins at 1:15 p.m. The contests are free but registration is required and starts at 11 a.m. in the kids’ races area.
