Otto J. Schultz Jr., 91, of Monmouth Beach, passed away peacefully with his family by his side May 10, 2022. He was born March 19, 1931, in Elizabeth to Otto and Elizabeth Schultz. Otto proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was extremely patriotic.
After his service he went on to receive his master’s degree in electrical engineering from Newark College of Engineering, now known as New Jersey Institute of Technology. Otto moved his family to Middletown in 1964, working for Bell Laboratories and later the Department of Defense for over 25 years. After his retirement he worked as a Realtor in Virginia before settling in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Otto always had a thirst for knowledge. He was an avid reader who spent countless hours at the library. He was an active member of the American Legion in Punta Gorda. His love of outdoors brought him to hunting, fishing and golf. On the off season he kept busy with puzzles, coin collecting and cards, most notably poker. He lived life to the fullest and will be sorely missed.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Katie Schultz; son Paul Schultz; sister Patricia Schultz; and granddaughter Caroline Schultz.
Otto was preceded in death by his wife Cecelia and his daughter Diane.
A memorial gathering was held May 14 at Victory Tavern, Rumson.
