Peter Joseph Nagle, 64, of Little Silver, passed peacefully into eternal life Sept. 14, 2023, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Pete was born Jan. 15, 1959, in Red Bank to the late James E. Nagle and Beatrice Anderson Nagle and was a lifelong resident of Monmouth County.
Pete graduated from Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, and attended the University of Pennsylvania. A graduate of the Wharton School, he was captain of the varsity swim team and president of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Upon graduation, Pete started his career on Wall Street and was associated with several firms as an options trader. After Wall Street, he found fulfillment as a small businessman with many interests in Monmouth County. Blessed with a mind for numbers, he willingly shared his financial insights with anyone who asked.
Pete was known throughout the swimming community in New Jersey and was co-founder of the New Jersey Race Club swim team. He was a well-regarded coach who shared his expertise with parents, fellow swimmers and kids. He founded and organized many of the ocean mile swims which continue today.
Pete’s greatest joy was family. Throughout his life, family was always a source of pride, whether it was his brothers in his early years, or his children with his wife Jo, his college sweetheart. If you could not find Pete on the pool deck, you were likely to find him rooting for the Yankees while enjoying a plain pie at Val’s Tavern in Rumson.
Pete is survived by his beloved wife Jo, his son Carl, and daughters, Maggie, CC, Jackie and Laura. He is also survived by brothers Christopher (Robin) and Stephen (Connie). Pete is also survived by his large extended family, including his mother-in-law, brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be held for Pete at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven.
