Peter W. Blake, 82, passed away March 1, 2024, at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank. He was born Feb. 23, 1942, the son of Edgar B. Blake and Haven J. Blake. He graduated from Rumson Country Day School, Deerfield Academy and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar and captain of the varsity soccer team. He earned an MBA with a major in corporate finance from New York University.

Peter was a career-long banker in New York City. He worked for many years at Irving Trust Company before accepting positions as senior vice president at United Mizrahi and Safra National banks. After retirement, he consulted with Deloitte & Touche on its loan review programs.

A gifted and enthusiastic athlete, Peter was an active member of New York’s Downtown Athletic Club, the Rumson Country Club and the Seabright Beach Club, where he treated generations of Blake family members to joyful reunions in the sand and surf. He loved swimming, squash, fishing, the New York Times crossword puzzle and, above all, golf.

Peter is survived by his brothers, Jonathan (Washington, D.C.) and David (Skillman), his devoted caregiver Marilyn Larobis (Philippines), and eight loving nieces and nephews and their children with whom he doubly fulfilled his moniker as “the great Uncle Pete.”

His kindness, generosity and love for outdoor activities remain an inspiration to all who knew him.

Burial will be private.
