Robert Francis Phair, M.D., 76, of Middletown, died on Sunday, May 15. “Bob,” son of Robert Phair and Matilda Phair, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes.

Robert served in the United States Army as a Nike missile instructor. He graduated from Newark College of Engineering with a BS in industrial engineering. He received his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University School of Law and his M.D. degree from George Washington University Medical School. He trained as an anesthesiologist at Stanford University Medical School and was a staff anesthesiologist for many years at Riverview Medical Center, in Red Bank. He loved to sail, cook, and create beautiful gardens. He loved and was devoted to his family and his dog, Buddy. He loved telling stories and he loved a good joke. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his sisters, Suellen Phair-Back, Jeanmarie Phair, and Maureen Maguire; and brothers, James and Arthur. He is also survived by three nieces and two nephews.

John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
