Phyllis J. Edwards, age 80, of West Long Branch, died Jan. 28, 2024, at home with her loving husband George by her side.

She was born in Park Ridge, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education.

Phyllis worked for the Eatontown Branch of the AAA Auto Club in New Jersey as a travel agent for 37 years. She traveled to China, Australia, Alaska and other locations in her capacity as a travel agent.

She was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice Holz and Ralph Jones. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, George Edwards; her cousins, Kenneth Oberg, Linda Azeltine, Kay Dee Sedjo, Leslie Johnson and June Guhl; and her two best friends of 75 years, Madelyn Weir and Carol Saidat, and their families.

Phyllis was a caring, happy and gentle person who was loved by everyone. She will be missed by all her friends and family. 

Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at Christ Church Shrewsbury, 380 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury. A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 25 at the same location.

Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank has been entrusted with the arrangements.
