It was a small sample size, but former Red Bank Catholic outfielder David Glancy made a huge first impression in college baseball. The St. John’s Red Storm outfielder was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball magazine thanks to some huge numbers.

David Glancy celebrated a home run for St. John’s University. The former RBC outfielder was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

Glancy and St. John’s played only 14 games but the freshman worked his way into the lineup for nine of them with five starts, delivering some dominant offensive performances. He led the team with a .423 batting average with three homers and 12 RBIs. Glancy’s final two games before coronavirus halted the season were sensational, going 7-for-9 with two homers and eight RBIs in wins over St. Peter’s and Iona. In the St. Peter’s game, Glancy drove in eight runs, the highest RBI total for the Red Storm by a player in 10 years.

Just one year earlier, Glancy closed out his high school career with a Shore Conference championship at Red Bank Catholic. Fellow freshman and former Caseys teammate Vin Bianchi is also on the roster at St. John’s and hit his first collegiate home run against St. Peter’s. This duo will look to build upon a shortened season of Division I baseball and continue to contribute for the Red Storm.
