Renee Marko, beloved niece, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and friend, passed away Jan. 10, 2023. She was 74.

Born in Long Branch to Eleanor and Theodore Marko, Renee attended Red Bank Catholic High School. She went on to University of Miami and earned a bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Monmouth College. A member of the Red Bank Yacht Club, she enjoyed sailing with her family.

Renee was a parishioner at St. James Catholic Church in Red Bank. She was particularly passionate about the Jersey Shore, a variety of rock ’n’ roll music, and animals, especially dogs.  Her uncle and cousins noted her thoughtfulness in always calling to check in and send her love around each holiday.

She had many artistic talents and will be remembered for her generous heart and for her wry, unique sense of humor.

Renee was predeceased by her parents and her brother Robert Marko. She leaves an uncle, Robert Marshall; sister-in-law Fran Marko; nieces Shannon Thorpe and Lindsay Sanecki; cousins Gabrielle Marshall Salomon, Annette Marshall Franey, BetteAnn Rebenack, Janice Lee and Bobbi Cetta; and best friend Deborah Bevacqua, who recalls that Renee “was smart, very insightful, and could hold conversations with the best of us! Her heart was bigger than life and she gave of herself without wanting anything in return.”

Funeral services will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 26 at Pfleger Funeral Home, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Donations are suggested to the American Heart Association and Monmouth County SPCA.
