Rev. Donald A. Magaw

Rev. Donald A. Magaw passed away Jan. 8, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He was 77 years old. Donald was born in Perth Amboy, grew up in Port Monmouth, and later resided in Neptune for 35 years. He was the pastor of the Port Monmouth Community Church since 1993. He was also a special police officer and later the chaplain of the Middletown Police Department. He retired after working for 39 years as a physical education teacher with the Middletown Board of Education at Thorne Middle School. 

Donald loved baseball and umpired games for many years; he was a fan of the New York Yankees. He was the assignor for the Shore Umpires Association for 32 years.

Donald was predeceased by his parents, Rev. A.D. and Clara Magaw, his sister Carol Rose and her husband Jim, and his nephew Ronald Rose.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Christine Magaw and their daughter Lauren Williams (Phil); his sons Donald Jr. and Jerry (Miriam); his niece Carolyn McGuigan (Mike); and his grandchildren, Logan, Lindsey, Sierra, Katie, Donna and Darren. He also leaves behind his beloved hound Lola, whom he adored, his Yorkiepoo Scooter and his cats Patches and Rosie. 

A viewing will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. Jan. 13 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. A funeral service will be held in Donald’s memory at 11 a.m. Jan. 14 at the Port Monmouth Community Church, 78 Main St., Port Monmouth. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
