Richard Lewis Schneider Jr.

1845

Richard Lewis Schneider Jr., “RJ,” left us Dec. 13. He was born in Red Bank where he resided until his passing. RJ was a 1993 graduate of Red Bank Regional High School. He was an active fireman in the Westside Hose Company No. 1, Engine 96 in Red Bank as an ex-Captain and volunteer for nearly 30 years. RJ owned his own fiberglass company for many years. He was then employed with Amtrak since 2009 as a machine operator, crew foreman and trackman. His service to the community is an example for all of us. He could build anything just by sight. RJ was a fun guy with a heart of gold. He had a smile we will never forget. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved boating, being on the water, cooking and gardening.

RJ was predeceased by his father Richard Lewis Schneider in 2004; his aunts Nancy Raymond in 2016 and Beatrice Welsh in 2015. He was a care giver for his aunt Dorothy Setaro who predeceased RJ earlier in 2020. His grandmother Lena Cerrone also predeceased him in 1993.

RJ was a loving father, son, brother and grandson who is survived by his children Daniel Schneider and Allie Schneider; his devoted mother Marie Mieloch and her husband George; his adoring sister Jacquelynn Attanasio and her husband Ralph; and his loving grandparents Virginia and Michael Toscano. He loved his precious dogs Bailey and Stella.

RJ is also survived by his nephews Anthony Sarbello and Jack Scribellito; his aunts Joy Bottger and Michele Strahl and her husband Andrew; his uncle Michael Toscano and his wife Debbie; his cousins Michael Welsh and his wife Michelle, James Welsh and his wife Graceann, Kris Bottger, Timmy Bottger, Jason Smith, Sean Toscano and Angela Toscano; and countless loving friends.

Visitation was Dec. 18 at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, with a Fireman’s Service. Burial will be private.

May he rest in everlasting peace. We will all miss him dearly.
