Richard P. O’Day of Rumson, age 54, passed away May 1, 2022.
Richard grew up in Spring Lake in a large family of 10. He was an avid surfer, boater, fisherman and paddle boarder. He also enjoyed skiing and snowboarding.
He graduated from St. Michael’s University in Vermont and Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft where he was an outstanding athlete and lettered in varsity track and field all four years. He was a member of the winning DM team at the Penn Relays. Richard also graduated from St. Catharine’s Elementary School, Spring Lake.
Richard was a senior managing director at CohnReznick Capital, New York City. Prior to that he was a managing director at Credit Suisse and director at CitiGroup, also in New York City.
He is survived by his three children, Taylor, Avery and Richard Jr. Richard was predeceased by his loving parents, Peter and Ellen O’Day, and his sister Erin O’Day of Spring Lake.
He is also survived by his siblings, Patrice O’Day, Ellen Goodman (Peter), Colleen Rozzi (Charles), Megan Hesketh, Allison Yavosky and Gavin O’Day (Meaghan) and by his 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at at 9 a.m. June 4 at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake. Interment will be at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
A wake will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. June 3 at Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D St., Belmar. For directions visit reillybonnerfuneralhome.com.
