Robert (Bob) Van Brunt, 82 of Shrewsbury, passed away July 31 at Monmouth Medical Center.  Born Nov. 12, 1937 in Eatontown, he attended Red Bank High School then served in the United States Navy from 1955-1963.

Bob was a very proud American and loved his country. He was devoted to his family and loved life, he especially loved going on cruises. He was a big sports fan, loving the Mets, Giants and wrestling.

He is survived by his loving wife Vicki, to whom he was married for 60 years. He is also survived by his two children, his son Robert Van Brunt and wife Judy of Point Pleasant Beach, and his daughter Nekay and husband John Quinn of Tinton Falls. Bob also leaves behind his six grandchildren, Jake, Rachel and Matthew Van Brunt and Caitlin, Shannon and Colleen Quinn.  He is survived by his brother Irv Van Brunt and two sisters, Dolores Chahalis and Edith Laspada. Bob was loved by all who knew him and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation, Saturday, Aug. 22, from 2-6 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. In keeping with the current state mandates regarding COVID-19, face coverings must be worn by all visitors and will not be provided by the funeral home. Guests will be directed to briefly greet the family and exit the building as soon as possible thereafter.
