Robert Hrasna, age 63, of Rumson, passed away April 20, 2022 following a heroic battle with skin cancer.
He grew up in Point Pleasant and had a lifelong love of the ocean. After graduating from high school he joined the Coast Guard and was always proud of his service.
After discharge he started his career as a builder/carpenter, first by joining the family business and later on his own.
He was a wonderful singer; his passion for music took him from performing with high school bands to singing in several choirs over the years.
Always a dog person, he liked to spend time with his ‘buddy’ Murphy.
His hobbies included cooking and home brewing, usually creating a big mess but also delicious results. He was an avid gardener and liked to spend time hiking, biking and kayaking on the local rivers.
Bob was a very spiritual person and active in his local church. He went on to attend seminary in New York City and was an ordained Interfaith minister.
Always a kind and warmhearted person, he had a gift for connecting with people and making friends. He always had a positive outlook on life which helped him navigate many difficulties.
He loved that he had become part of a new family and especially cherished being ‘Opa’ for little Raegan.
Predeceased by his sister Nancy and his father, he is survived by his fiancée Irene Korfes, his brother Harold, his mother Mary Ann and many longtime friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from noon to 2 p.m Saturday, April 30 at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank, with a service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Monmouth County SPCA where Bob adopted Murphy or Mary’s Place in Ocean Grove.
