Robert Takacs, born Dec. 25, 1936, died Aug. 5, 2022. Bob was born in Passaic; lived in Clifton; and moved to Middletown in 2004. He was the son of the late Peter Takacs and Elizabeth (Boldezsar) Takacs. He was preceded in death by his wife, and love of his life, Maryann (Sautner).
Bob graduated Pope Pius X11 High School. He was a truck driver for Raia Industries and a steward for International Teamsters Local 560. He retired in 1987.
Bob loved all kinds of food, frozen Manhattan’s made by the pitcher for his family, Wildwood, Cape May family vacations, crabbing, and deep sea and fly fishing. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church in Passaic and of The Church of Saint Catherine Laboure in Middletown.
He is survived by his three children, Lisa Legath (Mark) of North Carolina, Bobby Takacs (Cindy) of Riverdale, and Doreen LaSpata (Sal) of Middletown; his brother Richard Takacs of Rockaway; and his sister Elizabeth Iarossi of Crofton, Maryland. Bob had five grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Stephen, Caitlyn, and Bobby Jr. and four great-grandchildren.
A viewing was held Aug. 9 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home with a funeral Mass at the Church of Saint Catherine Laboure in Middletown. The family conducted a private burial Aug. 11.
