Rose, Jeffrey Thomas, Age: 53, Greenwich, Connecticut

1003

Jeffrey Thomas Rose passed away quietly on Saturday, April 8 in Greenwich, Connecticut, with his family by his side after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 53. A beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Jeff was born in Fair Haven and raised in nearby Rumson, as the second of four children of Frederick “Bud” and Arlene “Lee” Rose. After Lee’s death Bud married Judith “Judy” Sparling, who had two children of her own, making a raucous and joyful houseful near the Jersey shore.

Jeff attended Camp Agawam, a boys’ camp in Raymond, Maine. He fell in love with the camp and remained involved as a camper, counselor, volunteer and board member for the rest of his life. He was a 1985 graduate of Cornell University and received an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 1991. He worked as an investment advisor for Prudential and Credit Suisse, and later served clients as an independent advisor. He married Jeannie Weinberg in 1995, and they settled in Greenwich, where they raised their children Johnny and Emily.

Jeff enjoyed attending his children’s many activities including tennis, squash, soccer and lacrosse but had a special passion for baseball and was a beloved coach for many of Johnny’s teams. He was a member of the Century Country Club in Purchase, New York, and the Round Hill Club in Greenwich.

Jeff’s interests included history, current events, travel, the out-of-doors, and reading. He was known for his generosity, his sense of humor, and his story telling. A good friend to many, Jeff relished reconnecting with friends from Cornell and Tuck and took special delight in his longtime friendships from summer days at Agawam.

His great love, however, was his family. Those who knew him came to love his celebration of those that were important to him, and especially his children’s interests and accomplishments. He was a proud husband and a proud father. He will be deeply missed and held always in the hearts of those who loved him.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Jeannie; his children, Johnny and Emily; his parents, Bud and Judy Rose of Rumson; and his siblings, Susie Merrick (Ben) of South Burlington, Vermont, J.C. Sparling (Jenna) of Atlanta, Georgia, Nancy Pearson (Dave) of Rumson, Jenny Savino (Steve) of Andover, Massachusetts, and Jill Roe (Chris) of Los Angeles, California; his mother-in-law, Sue Weinberg of Greenwich; his brother-in- law, John Weinberg (Amy) of Greenwich; as well as his nieces and nephews, Katie and Janie Merrick, Lyla Sparling, Charlie Pearson, Tommy and Christopher Savino, Flynn and Luke Roe, and Annie, Jack and Peter Weinberg.

Memorial donations may be made in Jeff’s memory to Camp Agawam (www.CampAgawam.org) or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at (www.cff.org).
