Sandra (Sandy) Sue Wells, 77, passed away March 9, 2025. Born Aug. 5, 1947, Sandy was a longtime resident of Little Silver, which she took great pride in. She supported the community throughout her life.

Sandy was born to John Ferrogiari and Gayle (Matheny) Ferrogiari in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. They soon relocated to Asbury Park, where she and her sister Pat attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. In 1955, they permanently moved to Little Silver, where her father opened The Sugar Bar luncheonette; Sandy and her sister helped and supported the family business.

Sandy graduated from Markham Place School and Red Bank High School (Class of 1965), before earning a teaching degree at Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, in 1969.

That same year, she married Keith Wells. They returned to Little Silver in 1977 to raise their family and remain there to this day.

Their first son, Gregory, was born in 1974, followed by Jeffrey in 1979. Sandy dedicated her life to her family and her community. She started volunteering for the Little Silver Library in 1981; she eventually became an employee until her retirement in 2022. Sandy also spent over 10 years writing a weekly column, Our Town, about Little Silver happenings for The Two River Times. In addition, she was a founding member and archivist of the Springsteen Special Collection, now held at Monmouth University.

She spent her summer free time at Chapel Beach Club for over four decades, adored her annual vacations on Cape Cod, was an avid reader and, later in life, enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Keith; sons Gregory and his fiancé Jill Careri of Highlands, and Jeffrey and his wife Lori of Larchmont, New York; grandchildren Charlotte and Anderson Wells; and her sister Pat Coyne and her husband Mark.

The family will host an open house Celebration of Life from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 30 at the Woman’s Club of Little Silver, 111 Church St., Little Silver. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in her name to the Friends of the Little Silver Library. Information on how to donate can be found at littlesilverlibrary.org/friends-of-the-little-silver-library.

Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank has been entrusted with the arrangements.
