Stephen A. Schiavo, 65, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on Sunday, Januar y 10. Stephen was born on October 11, 1950 in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he grew up. On September 9, 1972, he and his wife, Helen, were married and began their life together. In 1976, they moved to Staten Island, N.Y., to begin raising their family and in 1986, settled in Hazlet.

Throughout his life, Stephen worked for Chase Manhattan Bank as the Vice President of Coin and Currency. He was an avid New York Jets and Yankees fan and loved the Beatles.

He was predeceased by father, Frank Schiavo; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Rose Zappulla. Stephen is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 43 years, Helen (Zappulla) Schiavo; his adoring mother, Yolanda (Licciardi) Schiavo; his loving children, Mark Schiavo of Montclair and Christine Mazza and her husband Bruno of Ocean Township; his dear siblings, Dominick Schiavo, and Nancy Gerardi and her husband Thomas; and his cherished grandson, Jaxon Mazza. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation was held on on Wednesday, January 13 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hazlet. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Wednesday, January at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
