Barbara Lois Seaman, age 86, of Middletown, died peacefully Jan. 30 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Barbara always loved fashion and design and after high school she attended Traphagen School of Design in New York City. When she graduated, she worked as a fashion illustrator for Steinbach’s retail store. Barbara was a talented watercolor artist, an exhibiting member of the Guild of Creative Art for over 35 years, and belonged to a weekly art group. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling.
On Oct. 30, 1954, she married the love of her life Joseph X. Seaman, her husband of 48 years. She was a beloved mother and friend to each of their four children. She cared deeply for all of her family and friends and was always cheerful and loving. Anyone who knew her was touched by her kindness.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph X. Seaman, who passed away in 2002. Surviving are her four children, Patty Seaman, Karen Donnelly, Tom Seaman and Diane Simays; her sons-in-law Gervaise Donnelly and Mike Simays; her eight grandchildren, Amanda Simays, Tyler Simays, Adam Simays, Nolan Donnelly, Gus Donnelly, Grace Donnelly, Christopher Seaman and Gregoire Seaman; her sisters-in-law Patricia Wickham and Mary Meyer; several cousins; and all of her nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at a later date at the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to We Care Adult Care, 552A Highway 35, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
