It is with deep sadness that the family of Sharon M. Jones announces her passing June 4, 2025, at the age of 84, peacefully at home after a long illness.
Born in Philadelphia, Sharon attended the Lower Merion schools, where she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) S. Jones Jr. She graduated from Penn State University and went on to teach elementary school for a few years. She and Bob settled in Pittsburgh, where they raised their four children. Eventually, they relocated to Rumson, where they spent the rest of their lives.
Sharon always loved going to her family’s beach cottage in Stone Harbor, where she looked forward to sitting on the beach with family and friends. In their later years, she and Bob bought a house in Sailfish Point, Florida, and spent their winters there as snowbirds.
Throughout her life, she loved to garden, a habit she inherited from her mother. When her children were growing up, Sharon enjoyed playing tennis and skiing with them. Most of all, Sharon enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home.
Sharon was predeceased by her father, Matthew B. Miller; her mother, Sheila D. Miller; her sisters, Carol Miller Miner and Sandra Miller Voth; and her loving husband of 52 years, Bob Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly DalPra, and her husband, Kenny, of Rumson; her daughter, Kirsten Ward, and her husband, Chris, of Fair Haven; her daughter, Ashley Jones, of Fair Haven; and her son, Matt Jones, and his wife, Elaine, of Fair Haven. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Robert, Klayton, Kyle, Marin, Brayden, Liam, May and Milo, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The arrangements were private under the direction of Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Donations may be made in memory of Sharon Jones to the VNA Health Group Hospice Care, Attn: Philanthropy Department, 3600 State Route 66, Floor 4, Neptune, NJ 07753 or at vnahg.org.
