Hector A. Soto, 77, of Middletown, passed away Jan. 29. Hector was born in Santiago, Chile. He met his wife Maria there and they married in 1963. They came to America in 1967 and were so proud to become Naturalized Citizens. They settled in Middletown in 1976.
Hector was a custodian for the Middletown School District for many years, retiring in 2007. Hector was an avid soccer fan and supported team Barcelona. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and vacations back home to Chile. He was happiest at home surrounded by his family, good friends and good food.
Hector is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Maria Soto and their two sons, Cristian, husband of Natalie Soto, and Carlos Soto. He also leaves behind two sisters, Victoria and Perla Soto; six grandchildren, Marangelly, Michael, Travis, Marcelo, Alexander and Sophia; along with one great-granddaughter Madelena.
He was predeceased by his son Hector Jr. in 1985.
Friends and relatives paid their respects Feb. 2 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. A funeral service concluded the afternoon and a private cremation followed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
