Susan Anne Mancuso

1764

Susan Anne Mancuso passed away peacefully at home Sept. 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 25, 1947, at Newark Presbyterian Hospital to parents Joseph and Marie Denton and lived in Orange until moving to Belford in 1956.

Susan went to St. Mary’s School and was a member of the first graduating class of Mater Dei High School in 1965. Susan was blessed to meet her true soul mate and, in November 1978, she married Fred Mancuso and they started their great life together. They moved to Rumson and raised four children there, where she attended many athletic events, always cheering her kids on.

A customer service representative at Central Jersey Bank and Trust Co. and then at Home Diagnostics Corp., Susan retired in 1994 to begin being a full-time grandmother. Affectionately called Nanny, she adored her grandchildren and played a major part in their upbringing, hosting weekly Sunday dinners and annual family vacations to her favorite spot, Sea Isle City. Always an entertainer, she and Fred hosted countless parties for engagements, birthdays, showers, Christmas and more, always making everyone feel special and right at home. An avid cook, decorator and shopper, she would drop everything to be there for her children and grandchildren.

In 2006, Sue and Fred moved to Middletown where they loved to take long walks around the lake and took up golf. Sue was a natural and loved being a member of the Ladies Tuesday Golf League at Shadow Lake Village where she made many new friends, while keeping up with old friends. She and Fred took annual trips, alternating visits to their favorite destinations, Charleston and Bar Harbor. Sue was always dressed her best, whether it was for a round of golf or a fancy dinner, and accessorized to the nines.

Susan was predeceased by her parents, Marie and Joseph Denton; her in-laws, Joseph and Angelina Mancuso; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and Richard Oram; and her brother Robert “Bobby” Denton.

She leaves behind Fred, her loving husband of 43-plus years; her children, Kelly and Brian Volker, Shannon and Mark Lonergan, Kevin and Alicia Murphy and Brian and Robin Murphy; her step-children, Cheryl and Ray Peterson, Dan and Elizabeth Mancuso, Peter Mancuso and Karen Mancuso and Caroline McAuliffe; her grandchildren, Will Volker and fiancé Meghan, Michael, Jack and Maggie Volker, Tommy, Amy, Katie and Molly Lonergan, Sara, Patrick and Shamus Murphy, Caitlin and Megan Murphy, Kristen and Brian Jammel, Trey Peterson and fiancé Renee, Allie Peterson, Anthony Mancuso, Isabella Mancuso and Salvatore McAuliffe; great-grandchildren Jack and Ryan Jammel; sisters-in-law, Jane Denton, Joan Mancuso and Cathy Gonsalves; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Liz Mancuso; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
