Sylvia (Ann) Lambert passed away April 6, 2021, in Holmdel. She was born May 16, 1935, in Liverpool, England. As a child she resided in Cardiff, Wales, during World War II, where she experienced the blitz of England by Germany while spending many nights in the air raid shelters. Post WWII, she moved to High Wycombe, England, just northwest of London.

In 1957, Sylvia (Ann) met her husband, Jean, who was stationed in England with the U.S. Air Force. They were married in 1958 and she came to the United States in July of that year.

Sylvia (Ann) worked as a lab technician for National Starch & Chemical in Plainfield during the early to mid 1960s. In 1965, she moved to Indianapolis with her husband. They were blessed with two children (both Hoosiers) before moving to the Chicago area for eight years in 1968. They returned to New Jersey in 1976 and have resided in Middletown since 1977.

Sylvia (Ann) worked in the Customer Convenience Department at Sears in Middletown from 1983 to 1991. She also volunteered with the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation during the 1980s and 1990s, working with staff and organizing food drives. She was a communicant of St. Catharine’s R.C. Church, Holmdel.

Sylvia (Ann) was predeceased by her sister Antonia Cleathero in 1946; and brothers, Edward Cleathero, England, in 2016 and Harold Cleathero, England, in 2019 England. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Jean Philip Lambert; daughter Theresa Lyons and her husband Jay, Virginia Beach, Virginia; son Gregory Lambert and his wife Julia of Holmdel; grandsons, J.T. Lyons, Wausau, Wisconsin, and Tyler Lambert of Holmdel; granddaughters, Samantha Lyons, Chesapeake, Virginia, Alexandra Lyons, Virginia Beach, and Tara Lambert, Holmdel; brother, Tony Cleathero, England; brother-in-Law, Thomas Lambert and his wife, Joanne of Palm Harbor, Florida; sisters-in-law, Jan Cleathero, England, Marge Cleathero, England, and Marion DeMato, New Bern, North Carolina; three great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews, both in the United States and abroad.

Visitation was held April 11 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy was offered April 12 at St. Catharine’s R.C. Church, Holmdel. Burial followed at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
