The Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, has overturned a 2022 decision rejecting NY Waterway’s claim it should have won the contract to run commuter ferry service from the Belford terminal to Manhattan.

Changes to the state’s contentious liquor license regulations have many buzzing, especially craft brewers.

Marlene Sandford, convicted in the 2020 Belford dog hoarding case, was sentenced Oct. 19 to six months in jail and fined $30,500 by the Middletown Municipal Court. Sanford was found guilty of 61 counts of animal cruelty. The sentence includes a lifetime pet ownership ban.

The plan to build a 42-acre solar farm on the county-owned Belford Landfill site will progress – with Middletown on board. The Middletown Township Committee entered into the lease/sub-lease agreement with Monmouth County and Belford Solar Farm LLC. Now, if the farm is constructed, the township will receive tax revenue from previously tax-exempt land.

The Belford Landfill may be useful once more.

Commuters traveling to New York City from Belford have a new ride: Seastreak recently launched Millennium, a 121-foot, high-speed catamaran, to ferry residents daily from the Monmouth County port to the West Side of New York City.

In the waning business hours of Sabatos Prime Meats, the renowned Belford-based butcher shop, customers scrambled to purchase cuts of meat, express their gratitude and bid farewell to the butchers who have been a mainstay of the community for decades.
