RUMSON – Championship teams usually need to face some form of adversity on the road to a title. For the Rumson-Fair Haven girls track team, it came in the sectionals when Willingboro upset the Bulldogs to take the top spot. But RFH turned the tables when it counted the most at the Group 2 state track meet at South Plainfield High School.

PISCATAWAY – It wasn’t going to be easy. Rumson-Fair Haven experienced heartbreak at SHI Stadium on the campus of Rutgers University in the Group 2 state championship game before. But in 2024, the Bulldogs flipped the script and captured the school’s first outright state title, one that had eluded them the past two years.

RUMSON – Five points is the difference between not one but two state championships for Rumson-Fair Haven.

When Matt Bruno recorded the strikeout to secure the Bulldogs’ second straight section championship, the celebration was much more subdued than a year earlier.

Rumson-Fair Haven was on a rare two game losing streak and found themselves behind the eight ball against Bridgewater-Raritan, currently ranked fourth in the latest state poll. But coach Marc Moreau’s team reminded everyone that his Bulldogs are an elite program with a dominant second half to score a come-from-behind 10-7 win last Monday at Two River Times Field and Borden Stadium.

Rumson-Fair Haven caught lightning in a bottle on the way to the school’s second boys lacrosse state championship.

The Bulldogs head coach continues to mold RFH as an elite state power and back-to-back losses to nationally ranked teams will only help a talented team learn how to handle all comers when the post-season rolls around.
