Election Day – Tuesday, Nov. 4 – is fast approaching. Mail-in ballots have arrived, and early voting is open across the county. On the ballot this year are some competitive races, including those for governor and other state, county, municipal and board of education seats.

HIGHLANDS – The nonpartisan election for mayor of Highlands is the only municipal race before voters in the Nov. 4 general election. Incumbent Mayor Carolyn Broullon (We Are All in This Together) is being challenged by a former council member and council president, Rebecca J. Wells (Deep Roots New Wave).

HOLMDEL – Three candidates are running for two open seats on the township committee in the Nov. 4 general election. Voters will see two familiar faces, both Republicans – incumbent Mayor Brian Foster and former mayor Gregory Buontempo – and Democrat Allan C. Roth.

HOLMDEL – Six candidates have filed to run for three open seats on the Holmdel Board of Education in the Nov. 4 election.

In Tuesday’s primary election, voters across the Two River area delivered mostly decisive wins to candidates in local, county and statewide elections, including the races for governor.

MONMOUTH COUNTY – Early voting – in-person and by mail – is now underway in Monmouth County for the June 10 primary election, with a longer voting window in place due to new state legislation. The county announced that early voting, which began Tuesday, June 3, will run through Sunday, June 8.

HOLMDEL – Fiscal responsibility, affordable housing and transparency in governance have been the most pressing issues in Holmdel – issues being amplified by the four candidates running in this year’s Republican primary to fill two seats on the township committee. One Democrat has filed in an uncontested primary.

NEW JERSEY – Candidates preparing for the 2025 primary election might have to work a little harder to qualify for the ballot. Gov. Phil Murphy signed a bill Feb. 3 that increases the number of signatures candidates need to run for certain state, county and local offices.

MONMOUTH COUNTY – Early results from the 2024 General Election suggest that many local officials will retain their seats for another term, with voters in the Two River area showing strong support for incumbents.

SHREWSBURY – Four candidates are eyeing two open seats on the borough council this year, with Mayor Kimberly Eulner running unopposed in the upcoming Nov. 5 election.
