ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS– Cannabis shops may soon appear in Atlantic Highlands, as borough officials have introduced an ordinance that rewrites the town’s stance on the businesses. A public hearing is scheduled for June 2, where residents can express support or opposition to the proposal before an official vote is held.

The second cannabis dispensary opened its doors in the borough while Monteverde Modern Dispensary, the first to set up shop in Red Bank, just passed six months in business.

The borough’s planning board went deep into the weeds when considering another pot shop application at its meeting May 8. It also unanimously approved a Parìsian-style café on the first floor of the former CoCo Parì on Broad Street downtown.

The borough’s first retail cannabis dispensary will celebrate its grand opening later this month. The owners anticipate their budding business, Monteverde Modern Dispensary, open since December for medical marijuana sales, will soon be blooming.

Cannabis shops are coming to Red Bank.

Citing “inconsistencies” with the borough Master Plan, the planning board unanimously rejected a draft zoning ordinance establishing where in the borough cannabis businesses would be permitted.

A special meeting to discuss cannabis businesses was held at the borough hall March 29, where the council proceeded to approve the introduction of two ordinances amidst litigation threats from business owners.

RED BANK – In a 5-1 vote Dec. 5, the borough planning board approved applicant Susan Duckworth’s proposal to transform her existing warehouse on East Leonard Street into a cannabis cultivator facility.

At the Red Bank Borough Council meeting Sept. 14, the council passed a resolution acknowledging that the cannabis cultivation business proposed by G Tree’s, LLC is allowed in the borough.

As lines snake around the building outside a new dispensary on Route 35 near Fort Monmouth, a pair of neighboring Bayshore boroughs are deciding the immediate future of the cannabis business within their borders.
