RED BANK – Undeterred by the rainy and chilly Saturday afternoon, nearly 2,000 protesters flooded Riverside Gardens Park to participate in the Hands Off! Red Bank, NJ Fight Back! rally, part of a nationwide protest April 5. Protestors condemned several federal policies initiated by President Donald Trump and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla.

MONMOUTH COUNTY – The League of Women Voters (LWV) is historically nonpartisan, but that doesn’t mean it won’t take a position on the issues of the day, its leadership says. Recently, the organization has expressed a number of concerns, particularly about policies emerging from the Trump Administration.

Held in Asbury Park’s Trinity Church, a diverse array of speakers considered the question: “What’s Next? Understanding Our Role After the Election.”

While school boards – and parents – across New Jersey continue to debate the state’s Policy 5756 which bars schools from outing transgender students to their families, the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Monmouth County has taken a firm position in support of the policy.

Before the May 9 special election ushering in Red Bank’s new form of government, candidates for public office in the borough have signed on to participate in a forum organized by the League of Women Voters of Monmouth County (LWV).

Three separate local leagues have merged to form one single organization – the League of Women Voters of Monmouth County.

“Suffragists Speak: Race, Slavery and the Fight for the Vote” is a video by T. Thomas Fortune Foundation, AAUW and the League of Women Voters that dramatizes the complicated history of black women's suffrage.

A municipal election to determine which three borough residents will sit on the Monmouth Beach Board of Commissioners will be held Tuesday, May 11.

The League of Women Voters of Southern Monmouth County is focusing on its Observer Corps – an important part of the league since its inception – to help it keep the public informed about local government.
