MONMOUTH COUNTY – In October, the county government executed this year’s round of open space grants. Six Two River towns received hundreds of thousands in funding for ongoing recreation projects.

OCEANPORT – This year, Councilmembers Michael O’Brien and William Deerin are running uncontested for another full term, while councilmember Patricia Cooper seeks a one-year unexpired term. 

FORT MONMOUTH – Eatontown, Oceanport and Tinton Falls officials have 45 days to review recently expanded flexibility for Fort Monmouth’s Allison Hall Parcel in Oceanport, currently being redeveloped into the multiuse RiverWalk Center along Oceanport Avenue.

OCEANPORT – Monmouth Park concluded its season Sept. 15 and recently announced some coveted season titles.

With closing still two years away, Netflix has been granted permission to begin demolishing 88 buildings on the 300 acres of Fort Monmouth the firm plans to transform into a major production studio. If the sale falls through, Netflix is responsible for completing and removing the approved demolition.

As voters head to the polls in just a few weeks and mail-in ballots have already been sent, many residents across the country will face an unusual situation: they won’t have a choice in their local elections. Thousands of local races are going uncontested, meaning only one or even no candidates are running for an open position. This trend is evident across the nation, and the Two River area is no exception.

Fort Monmouth’s new property owners, predominantly locals, are as dedicated to preserving the history of the former U.S. Army base as they are about being part of its revitalization.

The owner of the boutique hotel to be created from Fort Monmouth’s historic Allison Hall has been given until July 6, 2026, to complete the transformation, combining a two-phase project into one.

An ambitious plan to secure Monmouth Park’s financial future moved forward last week as plans to construct a mixed-use development entered the design phase. At the same time, racetrack officials signed an 85-year lease.

OCEANPORT – Construction is underway to turn a 6,000-square-foot portion of Fort Monmouth’s RiverWalk Center into a new brewery and tap room, expected to open by the end of this year.
