Murphy, a Republican, faces current council president Lori Hohenleitner, a Democrat, in the Nov. 7 General Election. Current Atlantic Highlands Mayor Loretta Gluckstein, a Republican, is not running for reelection. She presides over a heavily Democratic council, with Murphy the lone Republican.
